One of the goals of NCCAR is to assist our clients in the development of enabling technologies through applied research to allow advances in vehicle performance, efficiency and safety.  Even the best idea or invention still faces a daunting task of development and validation to the high standards of the automotive industry.  NCCAR staff are here to help clients through that process and avoid the pitfalls.

Examples of current research activities include:

  • Infinitely variable valve-train operation

  • Autonomous (or driver-less) vehicle technologies

  • Advanced composite materials

  • Driver assist technologies (in conjunction with NC State University)

Future research will include:

  • Torque vectoring & optimized kinetic energy recovery development for electric drive vehicles

  • Advanced vehicle control logic for safety monitoring and dynamic stability predictive models.

Whether your interest is high speed computer control of unstable events or nano-technology structural integrity, NCCAR is positioned to help you and your organization.
